Brendan Courtney is Creative Director of Giant Film & TV, he began his career as a researcher on RTÉ 1’s live daytime show “Open House” after just one series Brendan wrote, produced and presented “Wanderlust” RTE 2’s hit internet dating show, which ran for four series, during that time he was also head of development for Ireland's largest independent production company “Tyrone Productions”. At that that time “Wanderlust” was optioned by 11 countries including LIVING TV, which brought him to work in the UK.
Following work on ITV’s Ant and Dec Saturday Night Takeaway and Blind Date, Brendan took up the role as Creative Director for Giant Film & TV. Since then has had over 20 commissions for various UK broadcasters. The role involves idea generation, development, market awareness, strategy building, contact liaisons, management, pitching, selling, executive producing, producing and direction.
His most recent accolade is bringing back the BBC’s “The Clothes Show” to UKTV Style, which he wrote, pitched, associate produces and presents. He also set up the co-production with Elizabeth Murdoch’s super indie “Shine” that ensured the commission was a success. Brendan spent much of last year producing and presenting his own award nominated entertainment chat show “The Brendan Courtney Show” for TV3 in Ireland and has just won “Most Stylish Irish Male” at the Belfast Buzz Awards.
Having just completed Central Saint Martins highly acclaimed “Art Direction” course Brendan has developed his own promotional label “FROCK U” which is an insider’s guide to the British Fashion Industry and is using it to experiment cross platform within the fashion industry.
Brendan is in huge demand as an Event Host, MC, Awards Presenter or After Dinner speaker.
