In 2013 Nikki set up a fitness based awareness campaign called Fighting Fit For Ewing’s where she regularly partakes in physical challenges to highlight the importance of exercise for rehabilitation. Her most recent challenge resulted in her becoming the first person to scale four Irish mountain peaks on crutches in 32 hours. Other challenges include travelling to Iceland in February 2016 to scale the Sólheimajökull glacier on crutches, attempting a Guinness World Record in Holland to become the fastest woman to complete a 5k on crutches, abseiling off one of Ireland’s most iconic lighthouses, Fanad Head in Co. Donegal and successfully completing the Fan Dance on crutches- a 24km trek through the Brecon Beacons in Wales. A gruelling march usually reserved for the British Special Forces. Nikki is the second person on record to complete the Fan Dance Race Series on crutches. Nikki was Awarded 'Mosting Inspiring Person of the Year' by Outsider Magazine and the winner of one of Ten Outstanding Young People awards in Ireland, Nikki has found success from her humble beginnings.

In 2020, Nikki felt that her quality of life was deteriorating and she made the tough decision to have a rotationplasty, an incredible surgery that sees a portion of the limb removed, rotated and reattached. Despite all of these set backs she remains focussed on her recovery and excited about what life can offer. Nikki is an incredibly inspiring speaker covering topics such as resilience, learning to adapt, facing your fears, growth mindset and coping with change.

We booked Nikki as the after dinner speaker at our annual conference, hoping that our delegates would be inspired by her amazing story, and we were most certainly not disappointed.
You could have heard a pin drop as Nikki shared her experiences. Speaking simply from her heart, she warmed our hearts and opened them up, so that we too, vowed to face our own challenges with courage, determination and good cheer.
We were delighted to have Nikki at our conference and are very grateful for her unique, memorable contribution to its success.'

It couldn’t have gone better and we couldn’t have found a more suitable speaker for our event. Nikki’s talk was really inspiring and emotional the crowd were blown away and showed their appreciation with a standing ovation at the end.
