Shane Breslin is a digital media and communications consultant, helping individuals, businesses and organisations find their voice online and go from surviving to thriving in the digital landscape. He is former Editorial Director of Maximum Media, named in 2017 by the Financial Times as one of Europe's 250 fastest growing companies, and has managed digital communications for leading Irish charities including the Irish Cancer Society and Age Action. He lives in rural County Meath with his wife Lorraine, children Cara and Shay - and Mrs D, the maddest and most maddening of Irish terriers.
All of Shane's work now is driven by his personal story. Shane lived with depression for more than 20 years. He wasn’t diagnosed until 2014, and for the next two years he tried his best to function while keeping his situation hidden from view. None of that worked, so in 2016 he made a conscious decision – to talk about his depression. Honest, empowering conversations started happening everywhere, and he made new friendships all over the world. His new friends all have these things in common: they recognize struggle, suffering and pain, and in Shane they saw someone to share their journey with. In November 2017 he started a project about happiness – what it is, how to find it, how to recognise it when it arrives, how to encourage happiness in others (either one to one, or in our communities). Shane writes a weekly blog, The Happiness Bullet, he speaks from the heart and has so many great tips on simple ways to embrace more joy into our lives.
