Brent was prominent as one of RTÉ Television's main sporting pundits for over 25 years, and has also appeared on many of Ireland's top-rated Television and Radio programmes, including The Late Late Show, Tommy Tiernan, The Restaurant, Charity Eurostar, and Instrumental etc. He was also featured in an award-nominated documentary, entitled Brent Pope Outsider Art, and in 2023 was awarded a national lifetime achievement award for his mental health advocacy.
Brent holds a Bachelor of Commerce in economics and management from Canterbury University and Otago University in New Zealand, and postgraduate qualifications in Marketing, Public Relations and Sports Psychology in Ireland. In 2020 he fully qualified as a psychotherapist.
Brent has published six children’s books for various charities, a bestselling autobiography in 2013, and another bestselling book on mental health entitled Win in 2016. He owns a very successful clothing and shoe line called POPE and is an accomplished business, motivational, and entertaining after dinner speaker.
Brent is a dedicated charity worker and over the years a proud ambassador to many leading Irish charities and organisations especially those linked to youth and mental health issues such as 'Cycle Against Suicide’, ‘Walk in my shoes' and the annual “Mental Health Summit”.
Brent is the founder and curator of the 'Outside in Art Gallery'. In 2022, he founded the influential Elephant in the Room Movement, which is gaining worldwide recognition. Brent was a key speaker at the 2023 Pendulum Summit, and has shared the stage with figures like Gabor Mate, Dame Kelly Holmes, Adam Clayton, Wym Hoff and other world-renowned mental health stigma disruptors. Brent has worked with nearly every leading mental health organisation in Ireland and his talks are always described as raw, powerful, life-changing, and inspirational.
Brent brings the science (as a qualified psychotherapist) to a life well-lived whilst suffering from mental health illness. He educates others with his own recovery toolbox and wellbeing tips; his experience and raw emotion have led him to becoming one of the most sought-after speakers on mental health in Ireland.
