As well as being Economics Editor of Newstalk 106 to 108fm, Marc presents Ireland’s newest current affairs radio programme “Coleman at Large” each Wednesday and writes a weekly column for the Sunday Independent. Previously he was Economics Editor of the Irish Times and before that an Economist with the European Central Bank in Frankfurt and the Department of Finance in Dublin.

Writing in the Irish Times Times in July 2006 he described the Irish economy that year as moving with the speed of a “Headless chicken” the then Finance Minister Brian Cowen that the economy was spinning out of control and that public finances would collapse. A week later, Brian Cowen responded in an article entitled “Headless chicken analogy will not fly”.

In 2007 his book “The Best is Yet to Come” argued that Ireland’s economy would have to return to the levels of activity prevailing in 2005 but that if this happened Ireland still has huge hidden potential that could drive a new wave of growth in the current decade. Economic indicators are now showing the economy is returning to 2005. In his widely critically acclaimed new book “Back from the Brink”, Marc provides the only complete analysis of what went wrong globally and nationally and – more importantly – the only road map forward.

Marc is an economics graduate of Trinity College Dublin and University College Dublin as well as the prestigious Institute of World Economics in Kiel, Germany and holds a scholarship MBA from the Smurfit Business School.
